Gin Distillery

The chosen building surrounded by offices, residential properties and pubs located within the city of Nottingham. The idea of this project was to convert the industrial building to a Gin Distillery for people to learn, experience and enjoy the process and the history of Gin.

The main aim was to create a journey through internal spaces for visitors to engage and grasp information of Gin. Considering the circulation, site, wind and sun direction top three floors of the building disconnected to locate the Botanicals house. Therefore, the South elevation of three levels where the Botanical House located is being taken out to allow sunlight. The large two Glass houses inspired by Voronoi tessellation and distillery equipment cutting through the restaurant gives a glimpse of the plants used in the process as well as attracting people's attention to encourage visitors to take part in the process.

The minimalist cubic labs, dry room and study room reconnected with the distillation room and gin-shop with a bridge cutting through the glass house/botanical house. The horizontal and vertical circulation is guiding people through each stage of making the alcohol.
